I’ve had my fair share of foundations that I have tried in the past. I have loved a lot and hated a lot. In my journey of decluttering, I am left with six foundations on hand. It was supposed to be only three, but I failed at my no-buy goal.
I am very picky with the foundation I use. It’s very impractical coz I really don’t care trying out different foundations just to find the one that will work perfectly with my dry skin. Sadly, I haven’t found it yet but here are the ones that almost reached that status.
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Bisque
I used to use thicker foundations and just thinking about it, it makes me cringe. I have been eyeing this for years! It’s just now that I finally decided to try it out. I use it when my skin is blemish free but feeling dry. It’s very sheer, it just evens out the tone of my skin. It is also very moisturizing but too dewy for my preference so I still set it with loose powder.
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation (Dewy) in 220
Among the foundations on this list, this is probably on top. It’s funny coz I hated it the first time I tried it. I thought it sucks, but it was just that I picked the wrong shade that time. This time, the shade suits me perfectly. I love how it looks dewy on my skin but stays on all day. It’s my go-to foundation especially on the days/week (Makeup Capsule, yo!) that I want a bit more coverage. It’s perfect for dry-skinned girls!
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Matte & Poreless in 220
I have been wanting to try this out since Kathleenlights liked it. We all know she also has dry skin, so I wanted to get it to see if it really works on dry skin even though it’s matte. Well, definitely no regrets! It looks darker on my swatch but it also matches me perfectly. I also think it has more coverage compared to its dewy counterpart. Even though it’s matte, it doesn’t cling to my dry patches as long as I moisturize well prior to applying this foundation. It also stays on my skin the whole day! I would definitely keep on using this, and +10 points coz it’s super affordable.
L’oreal TrueMatch Foundation in W4
I can’t remember how many times I have purchased this foundation. No. It’s not because I love it that much. It’s because it took me a while to finally get my shade. This shade isn’t available here (except some online shops) and even back when I was in Singapore. It’s still not a perfect match, but at least it’s close. I want to get W4.5 soon! Anyway, this feels pretty thick on my skin, contrary to other reviews that it feels light. Probably because I have gotten used to light formula foundations. I also noticed that there are times that this looks cakey on me. Some days, I want to get rid of it. Heh~
Neutrogena Healthy Skin in 60 Natural Beige
I finally gave in and purchased this. I have been searching for this foundation but it’s not readily available here. I used to use NARS Sheer Glow and almost everyone I know who uses this, swears that it’s a dupe. I seriously don’t understand why. NARS Sheer Glow goes on matte on me, but this stays true to its name. It gives a healthy glow to the skin. It is thicker than my other foundations but definitely doesn’t feel as thick as how TrueMatch feels on my skin.
Make Up Forever Ultra HD Stick Foundation in 155=R370
I like this, but I don’t love it. I am contemplating whether to just give it away. When I first got it, I thought it matches me well but seeing all the foundations swatches on my arm, it shows up a little pink which I don’t like. I love my yellow-based foundations. I will probably just use this under my eyes as concealer. As per the reviews, I thought it will go on as full coverage on me, but it doesn’t. I don’t think I have owned ANY foundation that goes full coverage on me. I DON’T UNDERSTAND!!! My scars and veins still shows up. One think I like about this foundation, it stays on all day.
EXTRA: Laura Mercier Candleglow Foundation in Dusk
I got this as a sample from the store when I purchased the moisturizer. I don’t think using it for two days was enough for me to decide whether I like it or not. I feel like it’s super close to the effect that the tinted moisturizer has given me.
How about you? What foundations do you use? Let me know! 🙂
