DISCLAIMER: These are the Top 5 foundations I own – I only have 5! Hehe! Doesn’t necessarily have to be the best in the market. :p

I was never really a foundation type of girl. When I started using makeup, I tried to stay away from foundations. I felt like it’s too much back then. I would just use my concealer (AVON) and some face powder (Clean & Clear compact powder) for my face. I think, if I remember correctly, the first time I used a foundation was when my friend had this liquid foundation that me and my friends would share before we head to the photo studio to have our photos taken. Good times!

I’ve had a decent number of foundations in my possession in the past. It took me a long time to finally stick to a product. I’ve tried powder foundations, BB creams, from The Face Shop to Elizabeth Arden. You name it, I’ve tried (well, not really I haven’t tried those super high end ones!) Nothing really stayed on my stash for a long time. There were times that I’d buy one and use it just once because I hated it. Most of the time, I would just give it away. Until I get to hold these 5. I can now say I am contented with my foundation stash. I am not eyeing for a new one, YET!

So, here are the foundations I use in rotation. You will also have an idea of the shade matches from each brand if you are interested in any of the items below. By the way, my skin type is combination leaning to dry, just in case you’re wondering.

NARS Sheer Glow in Stromboli. I got this 2 years ago for my birthday but I only got to hold it last year. It took a while for it to get to me because of some shipping problems. I have been eyeing this foundation for a long time. It’s quite pricey! I love the shade on me because it has lots of yellow in it. I love how it looks on me and the coverage. I also love how light it feels and although it says ‘sheer glow’, it goes on semi matte on my face. I just wish it doesn’t transfer easily.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Serum #55.
(I took of the label, LOL) The only drugstore foundation in my stash! I got this just recently because I loved it the first time I had it back when I was still in Singapore. It feels really light on the skin but has decent coverage. It looks dewy and gives your skin a glow without making it look oily. I love it but this shade doesn’t really suit me. The original shade I had was #53 but I can’t find it on ebay! 53 is a little bit lighter than my skin tone and more on the yellow side, meanwhile, 55 is a tad bit darker than my skin tone and has neutral undertones. As I’ve said, I love yellow based foundations. Other than the shade, I love this and you guys should give it a try.

NOTE: This one’s different from the actual Healthy Mix Foundation. I didn’t like that!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in #4. I got this one together with my NARS Sheer Glow. I have mentioned on a previous post that I didn’t really like this at first. I didn’t expect to like this but it has been my most used foundation in my stash. I love using this with my MAC Strobe Cream and Bourjois Happy Light Matte Primer. It feels light (lighter than Healthy Mix!) and very blendable. I love how it stays on my skin and as the day passes, it looks better.

MAC Face and Body Foundation in C3. This is by far the easiest foundation to use especially when you are rushing. You only need you fingers to blend! What I love about this is that it feels like water on skin and when you blend it in with your fingers, it can give light to medium coverage. The more you rub it in your skin, the more coverage it gives. It’s a very magical product to use. I am also in love with how it smells! I am already half way through the bottle and I will definitely repurchase once I finish this.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC30. Ahhh! My very first MAC foundation. This one’s the mommy of all the foundations I own! It’s heavy duty and stays on all day on my skin. It’s a very high coverage foundation so I have to I mix it with MAC Strobe Cream to dilute it a bit. I was really scared the first time I used this because I had bad experience with MAC products before. Now, I think my skin has changed and have adjusted well to this product. I only use it when I feel like going all out with my makeup since it’s high coverage. I think everyone needs to own this foundation!

I hope you liked my list! I encourage you to try at least one of the items mentioned above. I highly recommend everything!

PS. I also really wanna know your favorite makeup items. It would be fun if you’ll share it in the comments section. <3

  1. I just use Beauty Finds’ Little Miss Sunshine because I avoid heavy foundations na. Pero fave ko before yung Revlon Colorstay kasi lakas maka-stay talaga ng makeup haha.

  2. I have to try Revlon’s Colorstay kasi 1, Kathleen loves it, and 2 kasi I think I need something better than my True Match! Do you have tips on how to know your right foundation shade? I always end up getting something that’s lighter for me! Then it ends up looking a little greyish on my face. 🙁

    1. I don’t know how it works on Kathleen as has dry skin and Colorstay makes my face dry! For color matching, I go by gut feel. Haha, seriously though, I try some in the store a lot of times before I buy it.
