If you’ve been reading my blog, you’ll know how much I splurged and enjoyed my experience when I attended Beautyworld Middle East 2015. If you are clueless, read everything here.
I am into dark lipsticks. I don’t like pinks and bright reds. I am more into browns and plums in the color spectrum. When I saw MUD’s booth, lipsticks were the first ones I checked out. They have 10 shades available but only these two caught my attention. I got what I thought was the lightest among their (Satin) collection, Soleil and Rustic. Others seemed too bright for my liking.
I love the packaging. Very simple and classy shaped tube. It’s smaller but wider than MAC lipsticks but I think the amount of product is just the same. Here’s how it looks side by side with a MAC lipstick.
As per MUD’s website, Rustic is a burnt orange color. I love the color on me. It goes on very opaque and you don’t really need to swipe it hard to get the true color. It was very smooth upon application and feels very moisturizing. Even after blotting, it still feels creamy on the lips.
Soleil is a warm burnt orange/coral. True to its claim, that’s how it looks when swatched on hand and in the tube but it looks a lot lighter – more of an orangey nude on my lips. It goes on very opaque and needs only one swipe to get the true color.
Packaging: ★★★★☆ | Color range: ★★★☆☆
Price: ★★★★☆ (15$ in retail) | Staying power: ★★★☆☆
I love both shades but Rustic is the one I fell in love with instantly. I think it suits me more. They stay just same as other lipsticks I have but not as long as my Rimmel Provocalips. The only downside of these lipsticks (for me) is that they’re too shiny and feels a little waxy than what I am used to. I love mattes, but these are satins! I hope they make mattes next time. I would definitely hoard those. Even though these two were the only ones that caught my attention, for the price I got them, now I regret not buying more.
